International Crime

International crime refers to illegal activities that violate international laws or treaties and are considered offenses against the international community as a whole. These crimes often transcend national borders and can include acts such as genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, trafficking in persons, drug trafficking, terrorism, and piracy.

International criminal law seeks to hold individuals, rather than merely states, accountable for these actions through various mechanisms, including international tribunals and courts, like the International Criminal Court (ICC). The prosecution of international crimes aims to ensure justice for victims, deter future offenses, and uphold the rule of law on a global scale.

The classification of actions as international crimes is often the result of agreements among nations and can evolve over time as societal values and norms change.
