Climate Change

Climate change refers to significant and long-term alterations in temperature, precipitation, wind patterns, and other elements of the Earth’s climate system. It is primarily driven by human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes, which increase concentrations of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere. These gases trap heat and lead to a rise in global temperatures, a phenomenon commonly known as global warming. Climate change results in a range of environmental impacts, including rising sea levels, increased frequency and severity of extreme weather events, changing ecosystems, and disruption of agricultural systems. It poses significant risks to natural and human systems, affecting biodiversity, water resources, food security, and human health. Mitigating climate change involves reducing greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and implementing adaptation strategies to cope with its effects.
