Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field, where one team plays defense and the other offense. The objective of the offensive team is to hit a ball thrown by the defensive team’s pitcher and then run around a series of four bases to score runs. The defensive team attempts to prevent runs by getting opposing players out through various means, such as catching batted balls, tagging runners, or forcing them out at bases.

The game is divided into two halves, with each team getting a turn to bat and a turn to field in each inning, usually lasting for nine innings. Baseball originated in the United States in the 19th century and has since become one of the country’s major professional sports. It is characterized by its unique terminology, rules, and culture, including the concepts of strikes, balls, home runs, and earned runs. The sport is known for its strategic elements, as well as the physical skills involved in batting, pitching, and fielding.
